Midnight (Central Park)
One of my "park theme" compositions. It started out as a suspense movie title song but ended up a Journey-style anthem. I think you'll like the oft-repeated hook at the end, I do.
My attempt at a CCM (that's Contemporary Christian Music) tune. I'm not really done with the lyrics but I'll include them when they are done. Listen ... and smile.
A Walk in the Park
Another from my "park" period. Some have said (including my daughter Karen) that this is their favorite. Kind of a catchy tune I guess. Does anyone remember the Teaberry Shuffle?
On the Radio
If ever the words get written to this one, they will tell a tale of how I dreamed to be a rock star with big-time airtime but found my entrée to the airways as a short-lived business talk show host. Hey, at least I'm on the web.
Rings
My first composition in March 1998. I have modified it slightly since then but I've tried to keep it pretty much as I composed it. It was done very early on a Saturday morning (a work day during tax season) and I can still remember the goose bumps I got when I realized I could actually compose a song.
Your Love
To Marylou. I'm not sure it's your style but it's your song.
On the Pond
Back to a park setting for this one. I've trying to get someone to learn it and play it back for me (I can't really play anything I've composed). Libby Merriman are you out there?
Christmas in July
Written for the "Christmas in July" party that we never had in 1998. Maybe in 1999. For the lyrics click here.
Song for Dad
In memory of my father, Joseph Bongorno, who passed away on May 13, 1998. I was working on this song as he was fighting his cancer from his hospital room. I brought a rough version of it to him but he was never strong enough to listen to it. I'm sure he's hearing it every time someone clicks on it (with Mom at his side).
Monkey Bars
Back to the park again for this one (yeah it's about those metal things that used to be in parks and not about the "Ape & Ale". Heavy on the bass (that's the instrument with fat strings, not the ale).
Out of the Rain
If you have a decent sound card, you should get that "just out of the rain" feel at the beginning of the song. Wasn't it great just sittin' on the front porch during a rain storm? Now my front porch couldn't keep a martini dry. Maybe in my next house.
Kite Flying
Continuing "in the park", let's go fly a kite. If the song works, you'll feel like you got it up in the air and then, in a moment of complete freedom, you decided to just let go. I hope you didn't pay too much for it.
Shake It Mon
My attempt at a reggae/salsa feel. It brings to mind the steel drum bands that are often found in a community parade. We love the Parade the Circle parade every year. I think I'll try to get one of those groups to put this on their play list.
Las Vegas Man
This one was written to honor the true Las Vegas Man and my partner Mark "Mr. Las Vegas" Ruth. When Mark comes to Vegas, the town is electrified (well, I guess it always is). Click here for the lyrics.
